On February 15th a meteor flying at 11 miles per second hit Russia, injuring over 1,200 people. This meteor caused the most damage since the meteor blast in 1908 which caused a 800 square mile flattened area. After this event, scientists started thinking of ways to prevent asteroids from hitting earth. Their idea is to create $350 million project that should take at least a decade to create. The creation will be a rocket that will propel into the asteroid which will hopefully knock it off course.

I watched videos of the meteor flying towards Russia, and it looked like it must have been very scary to be there, or even within a hundred miles of this event. There were pictures and videos of buildings that had their windows busted. I read on this website; http://gizmodo.com that the meteor was heard from half way around the world! It must have been awful for the people's ears who were close to it.

  1. Aren't those videos crazy? I hear there's even a bigger one headed to earth in 2025 that scientists will put a rocket on to move out of the way.
